Difference Between NPT and NPTF Threads

The threads are almost the same; the difference lies in how they create a leak-proof seal. NPTF threads do not require thread sealant, but sealant is very important when installing NPT threads fittings to create a leak-proof seal. NPT is general purpose tapered pipe thread, whereas NPTF is dryseal tapered pipe thread.
