What are the Differences Between Gynecomastia and Chest Fat?

Gynecomastia is the development of glandular breast tissue in males, whereas one may specifically gain fat or adipose tissue on the chest area. Hormonal changes are mainly responsible for gynecomastia, in which there is a rise in estrogen or lesser amounts of testosterone. Conversely, chest fat is usually due to overall excess body fat. Gynecomastia may happen during puberty or as part of the natural aging process.
