Lightning protection system
The purpose of a Lightning Protection System (LPS) is to intercept all lightning strikes to a building, redirect them to the ground, and distribute them evenly across the ground. In order to prevent dangerous flashovers and lightning-caused fires, all metallic installations in the building must be made at equal potential. An LPS is regarded as the most effective measure for protecting the structure and its contents against physical damage or degradation.
