Protein helps in building bones, muscles, and prevents infection in the body. If your kidneys are damaged, protein can leak out of the filters of kidneys into your urine. Loss of protein from urine is called proteinuria. Increase in the production of protein in the body can lead to proteinuria. Though it is not a specific disease, it may require treatment if a person has high blood pressure or high potassium levels in the blood.
