The Association A Dark Room was founded on October 12, 1997. It is a non-profit association and came from a group of friends, enthusiastic about the practice and revelation of photography. At one point it was considered that there was a "critical mass", which would allow the consolidation of an association, which would assure its associates, the pursuit of some of its interests, as well as the consequent dynamization and dissemination of photography in the region.
