Hair loss on the scalp is called baldness. However, hair loss can affect any part of the body. In most cases, it is part of the normal process of aging. Hair grows from the hair follicles and after a while falls off and new hair grows from the same follicles. This is called the hair growth cycle. Hair loss can cause distress to some as it affects their self esteem.
