There is great question on who invented the guitar. There are multiple origin theories. It is often said that guitar is the development of Lute and Greek musical instrument Kithara. In 1960s Dr. Michael Kasha researched about the origin of guitar and found that guitar was not developed after Lute and Kithara. They looked like guitar but have no influence in the evolution of guitar. But the oldest evidence of extension of guitar has been dated to 1800 or 1900 BCE.
