Gokyo is name of the place and lakes. There are five lakes and located in Khumbu Pasang Lhyamu Gaupalika of Solukhumbu district in North- eastern Nepal. Gokyo Lake also called Dhudh Pokhari and main source of Dudh Kosi River. Gokyo Valley surface area is 196.2 ha (485 acres) and elevation is 16,400 ft.
