It might have started more than a century ago by the Nawabs of Lucknow, but "chikankari" still manages to fascinate fashionistas across the globe. The embroidery is a form of needlecraft and is practised only in the City of Nawabs. Interestingly, it came into existence because the Nawabs not only wanted a subtle yet stylish fashion trend for themselves, but also something which would provide them relief from the hot weather of Lucknow.
